McDowell Mountain Ranch, or “The Ranch” as the locals refer to it, is a master planned community in North Scottsdale, located at the base of McDowell Mountain, which provides a breathtaking backdrop where you can witness beautiful sunsets. Development started in 1998 and now the community has nearly 4,000 homes with 26 neighborhoods (some are gated). Housing options range from apartments, luxury condominium and townhouses, patio homes and single-family homes.
McDowell Mountain Ranch is known for the vast trails and pathways that connect the neighborhoods within, as well as adjoining the communities. The McDowell Mountain Regional Park offers 40 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking and horse back riding. The community also offers access to multiple trailheads to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, which has miles of non-motorized multi-use trails.
A great amenity is the McDowell Mountain Park and Aquatic Center, which is open to the public and within walking distance from most of the neighborhoods. The park provides soccer/baseball fields and a 16,000 square foot skate park that is open to skateboarders and in-line skaters. The aquatic center has a 600 foot lazy river, 8 lane lap pool, a dive well with four diving boards, large tube water slide and a fitness center. Within the same area complex is the Arabian Public Library, as well as Desert Mountain Elementary and Middle School. Both are part of the Scottsdale Unified School District, and the high school for the area is Desert Mountain High.
McDowell Mountain is easily accessible to the 101 freeway and is only 25 min away from Phoenix International Airport and Scottsdale Fashion Square mall. The community is also only a short distance away from the popular Kierland Commons, Scottsdale Quarter and Old Town Scottsdale.
